Hope Ignites Baltimore is seeking a responsible, attentive, and mission‑driven Overnight Youth Specialist to support our Scholars as they work toward becoming first‑generation college students. Why This Role Matters As an Overnight Youth Specialist, you'll play a critical role in maintaining a safe, calm, and structured environment during evening and overnight hours for our Scholars (ages 10-17) living in our Residential Homes. You'll serve as a steady presence, ensuring Scholars' well‑being while reinforcing routines that promote rest, independence, and accountability. This role is ideal for individuals interested in education, social work, counseling, or youth development who value consistency, responsibility, and mentorship—even in quieter, behind‑the‑scenes moments. Key Responsibilities Supervise Scholars during evening and overnight hours, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times Enforce evening routines, including study time, curfew, and lights‑out procedures Conduct regular check-ins and monitoring throughout the night Respond calmly and appropriately to any overnight needs, emergencies, or behavioral concerns Ensure Scholars are prepared for the next day (e.g., uniforms, alarms set, materials ready) Maintain accurate overnight logs, incident reports, and communication notes for staff Support morning routines, including wake-up, breakfast prep, and school readiness Perform light housekeeping and ensure common areas remain clean and organized Communicate effectively with daytime staff regarding any concerns or updates Assist with documentation and records keeping Who We're Looking For Someone who is dependable, observant, and able to work independently A calm and steady presence who can respond appropriately in emergencies A mentor who leads with patience, consistency, and care A team player who communicates clearly across shifts Qualifications Bachelor's degree (preferred) or 2+ years of experience working with adolescents Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to stay alert and responsive during overnight hours Valid driver's license with clean driving record (3+ years) CPR/First Aid certification (provided upon hire if needed) Ability to pass required screenings (physical, drug test, TB test, background checks) Working Conditions In-person, overnight shifts in a residential setting Monday-Thursday, 9pm-7am Combination of active supervision and quiet monitoring periods Occasional need to respond quickly to emergencies or unexpected situations Light physical activity (walking, standing, light lifting up to 25 lbs.) Requires professionalism, confidentiality, and strong judgment when working with youth Growth & Compensation There is room to grow at Hope Ignites Baltimore. Based on experience and performance, Overnight Youth Specialists can earn up to $22/hour over time. Ready to Make a Difference?
