LOCATION:
TBDPOSITION SUMMARY
Volunteers Coaches assist Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) employees and supplement student services and learning opportunities. Volunteer coaches are not paid staff members; however, they are expected to always follow CCPS policies, rules, and procedures. The CCPS Volunteer Handbook will provide pertinent information on the volunteer application, what training you need, CCPS guidelines and responsibilities, safety procedures and other helpful resources for volunteers.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
At the time of application, the candidate must have:1. Demonstrated professionalism and dependability2. Experience working with children, preferred3. Ability to keep all information obtained through volunteering with CCPS confidential4. Ability to exercise good judgment and appropriate decision making5. Exceptional ability to understand and communicate with both verbal and written skills6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Demonstrate ethical conduct at all times.2. Make every effort to perform volunteer duties in the presence of a CCPS employee, avoiding unsupervised, one-on-one student contact.3. Report immediately to the school principal any expression or behavior that suggests an individual may intend to harm themselves, another person or commit an act of violence4. Observe all CCPS policies, procedures, regulations, and school rules.5. Maintain communication with your volunteer coordinator.6. Perform clerical duties as required to maintain appropriate records7. Conduct yourself with the highest standards of behavior and professionalism.8. Ensures that all activities conform to school system guidelines9. Thinks, concentrates, and positively interacts with others

Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Activities Director.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position may require significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Unpaid, volunteer position. A volunteer coach must be at least twenty-one years of age unless he/she is the parent of a child in school.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION
On or after July 1, 2026This position remains open until it is filled. References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor.

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.

2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland - House Bill 486 - Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention all applicants are required to report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors. Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered, coached, mentored, tutored or otherwise have direct contact with minors.
