Mechanic/Shop Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance on commercial flooring equipment, primarily focusing on battery and propane-based machines. This role is vital in ensuring the equipment is in optimal condition and ready for rental and use. Responsibilities Conduct full-service maintenance on all equipment, diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems. Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety standards. Clean, pressure wash, detail, and prepare equipment for repairs, ensuring they are rent-ready. Perform check-ins when equipment is returned to the shop. Assist with loading and unloading of equipment as needed. Source and manage the inventory of parts and supplies. Complete and maintain equipment service records, including damage repair, preventative maintenance, and warranty processing. Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales engineers to schedule deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in IC engines, propane, and basic electrical systems.. Small engine experience. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Comfortable working independently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical, electrical, and small engine repair expertise. Experience in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and sensor repair. Knowledge of small engine systems, pneumatics, and brakes. Qualified candidate should have basic set of their own tools, all specialty tools and equipment is provided. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, in a small team and shop environment. Steel-toe shoes are required for safety. Company will provide, all other PPE and some T-shirts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
