Job Description
General Overview This position is critical to maintaining and repairing the company vehicles and specialized flooring equipment. The role needs to keep crews operational by ensuring trucks, trailers and installation equipment are safe, reliable and job ready. Job Duties
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair company vehicles (e.g., box trucks, vans, trailers) and flooring equipment (e.g., grinders, shot blasters, mixers, vacuums).
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, brake service, tire rotation/replacement, fluid checks, and preventive servicing.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in both vehicles and job-site equipment.
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure vehicles remain compliant with safety regulations.
- Maintain detailed service records for vehicles and equipment.
- Coordinate with operations and field crews to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
- Manage inventory of parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Assist with equipment transport readiness, including trailer setup and load securement.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
- Recommend repairs, replacements, and preventative measures to improve fleet and equipment reliability.
- All other duties as assigned by management. Education and Qualifications
- Valid State of Michigan Mechanic Certification, heavy truck certification with chassis preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic working on both vehicles and industrial/construction equipment.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems (gas and diesel engines) and small engine equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical diagnostics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
- Valid chauffeur driver's license required; CDL Class B preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop and field conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Pay:
$30.00 - $36.00 per hourBenefits:
