Job Description

Family-Owned, Fleet-Focused At Harter's Fox Valley Disposal , we do things differently. We are a family-owned, growing company that values efficient, quality work. Operating in the essential waste and recycling industry, no matter what the economy is doing, trash still needs to be picked up, which means our trucks always need to run. If you are looking for a "forever home" where your paycheck is steady and your skills are always in demand, Harter's is the place. In our shop, you aren't just fixing a stranger's truck—you're maintaining our fleet. We're looking for a reliable Mechanic who wants to take ownership of their work, grow with a medium-sized team, and enjoy a supportive work environment. Why Harter's is
Better:
Take pride in your repairs: You'll treat our trucks like your own. No more rushing through a job just to get it out the door; we want it done right the first time and we have a ton of resources to help you do that.
Stable environment:
Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a steady Monday-Friday 50-hour work week schedule with overtime, occasional Saturday's during Holiday weeks, and a supportive team.
Collaborative culture:
We don't compete for hours. We support each other, share knowledge, and maintain a safe, tidy workspace where common sense prevails.
Growth potential:
As our fleet expands, so do opportunities. We are a medium-sized operation where your hard work is noticed and rewarded.
Recession-proof job security:
We don't slow down. While other industries fluctuate, our fleet stays busy year-round, ensuring you have a stable, reliable career.
Family-owned culture:
We aren't a massive corporate conglomerate. We're a medium-sized, family-owned operation where you are a person, not a payroll number. Ownership over "upselling": Your only "customer" is our own fleet. We want the job done right—not just fast—to keep our drivers safe and routes completed.
What You'll Be Doing:
Leading the repair: Analyze, diagnose, and create a plan of action for heavy-duty truck repairs.
Full-cycle maintenance:
From routine oil changes to complex mechanical and electrical diagnostics, we keep our trucks ready for route every single day.
Maintain the standard:
Safety protocols, keeping a clean bay, and tracking maintenance data ensures our fleet stays on the road.
Team support:
Be a "good teammate" by helping coworkers and contributing to a positive shop atmosphere.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year as a Diesel Mechanic.
Skills:
Proven mechanical acuity and familiarity with diagnostic equipment.
Reliability:
Show up for your team and take pride in being a "pro."
The Grit:
Ability to handle the physical demands of a heavy-duty shop (lifting up to 50 lbs).
The Mindset:
A team player who takes pride in a clean, organized workspace.
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
The Essentials:
Pay:
Competitive with all major shops in the area (based on your experience).
Benefits:
Full package including Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance.
Retirement:
401(k) with company match.
Time Off:
Paid Time Off (PTO) to ensure you have a life outside the shop.
Location:
In-person at our Ringle, WI facility.
Job Type:
Full-time License/Certification:
Driver's License (Required)
Work Location:
In person
