MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary program for heavy diesel engine equipment technician; OR Successful completion of a two-year program for Automotive Technology and one (1) year of experience as a skilled heavy equipment automotive mechanic, which shall have involved repair and maintenance of heavy-duty gasoline or diesel engine automotive equipment used in construction, farming or commercial fleet operations.

Note:

Experience must be at the skilled mechanic level. Performing minor repairs and maintenance incidental to operating heavy automotive equipment is not considered qualifying experience; OR Two (2) years of experience as listed in B. above.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

: When Assigned to Cities, Towns, Schools, or Villages - Possession, at time of appointment and during service in this classification, of a valid NYS Motor Vehicle Operator's license appropriate for the type of vehicles which the employee may from time to time operate.
