Mechanical Engineer Position Summary:
Drive the evolution of rotating technology. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the development of high-performance slip rings for mission-critical applications. In this role, you will lead projects through every phase: from initial CAD design and prototype testing to production-scale manufacturing. You'll work at the heart of a collaborative engineering team, solving complex problems and refining processes to ensure our technology remains the industry gold standard. Duties Ground-up development of high performance slip rings and advanced rotating devices for mission-critical applications. Create the next generation of slip ring technology by developing prototypes, test criteria, and bringing manufacturing to production volumes. Work with internal machine shop and other vendors in order to optimize design manufacturability. Be deeply involved with all aspects of design, manufacturing, assembly, first-article qualification, production, and functionality. Develop work instructions and other supporting documentation for manufacturing and production teams. Using Solidworks
  • Create drawings and supporting information for the purpose of conveying the design intent and functionality.
Maintain the schedules and forward momentum of short and long-term projects. Collaborate with a tight-knit engineering team to develop new products, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance, manufacturability, or reduce cost.
Education:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or closely-related field

Core Requirements:
3+ Years of experience as a mechanical engineer, professional or graduate academia or related position Experience with complex multi-part assemblies and tight-tolerance parts Experience with manufacturing, machine shop practices, tolerances, and other production processes Solid working knowledge of Google Suite and other computer skills Ability to pass a drug and background screening
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using rotary seals, O-rings, bearings, and other rotating mechanical devices Familiarity with documentation control and revision histories Experience designing and executing product tests, product validation, and/or HALT testing History of using chemistry knowledge that applies to material interaction Knowledge and understanding of ISO, CE, UL, IEC and other certifications Ability to measure and analyze tolerance-critical components and familiarity with GD&T Basic knowledge of electrical principles Experience with machining (lathes, mills, etc.) Familiarity with materials selection and qualification Learn more about what it's like to be on our team by checking out our careers page at careers.meridianlab.com and our GlassDoor!
