Job Description

Kalow Technologies LLC, a progressive and growing contract manufacturer based in Rutland, VT is looking for Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Our Mechanical Engineers work closely with our customers and have the technical expertise to review and validate designs so we can successfully manufacture the products to our customer's desired specifications and high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working hands-on from design and prototyping, to production, and will be comfortable working as part of a team or individually. Knowledge of and interest in electromechanical products is essential. Successful candidates will be process and detail oriented but will also be able to think outside of the box when solving design and manufacturing issues. Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities Conduct design review of components and end products and provide support as necessary. Develop and or modify detailed CAD drawings for products and sub-assemblies. Design documentation such as Bill of Materials and Work Instructions. Manage internal and customer generated Engineering Change Orders (ECO's). Produce prototypes and early-stage production units to validate the design and manufacturability of the product. Utilize technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills to assess and resolve or improve the design of a product. Develop and produce test fixtures and gauges, as required. Work directly with vendors and the Purchasing Department to source components and outside services. Collaborate regularly with Engineering Manager, Customer Relationship Managers, and customers on projects. Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives within the business. Calculate project costs and delivery lead times. Assist with the training of production team members, as products and fixtures are released to the floor. of K•nowledge / A ttitude / L ead by Example / O rganized / W•illing Job Requirements Education A Bachelor's or Associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or significant prior professional experience. Experience and Certification A minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience with the design and manufacturing of electromechanical products. Experience working in a contract manufacturing organization is a plus. Proficient with mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks), for the development of prints and 3D modeling. Familiarity with sheet metal, precision machining, plastic injection molding, are all highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and other Kalow team members. Ability to communicate concisely with excellent written and verbal skills. Proficiency with software systems including MS Office, MRP, and other business-related systems. Knowledge of ISO quality systems and procedures. Self-directed and capable of prioritizing opportunities and performing multiple tasks. Proactive, solutions oriented. High energy and positive attitude with a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and help to get things done as required.
