Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required. This is an on-site position located in Huntsville, AL. Toyon Research Corporation is an industry leader in the areas of complex space and missile systems analysis, aerothermodynamics, payload design and development, and ground / flight testing. Our Aerospace Systems Group is seeking a Mechanical / Aerospace Engineer to support the development of advanced electro-mechanical designs. Responsibilities Perform design, develop, and oversee the manufacture of test fixtures and associated mechanisms through test and delivery Collaborate with the Program Manager to define project objectives, timelines, and deliverables Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize system performance and reliability Author drawings, assembly documentation, and test plans Work in a team environment involving experts in diverse disciplines (e.g. aero-thermal and thermo-structural analyses, RF and IR signature effects of materials and configurations, etc.) Requirements Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience designing mechanisms and structures in challenging vibration, shock, and thermal environments Strong understanding of computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and boundary layer theory Experience with the various elements of mechanical design and drafting, including selection of structural materials, adhesive and fastener selection; AMSE Y14.5 and other relevant ASME drafting standards; familiarity with
ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL
Specifications as they apply to aerospace structures Experience using parametric CAD software to create models of assemblies, parts and drawings. Experience with SolidWorks and / or Creo skills are preferred, with the ability to quickly achieve proficiency in both CAD packages
