Medical Assistant

General Job Description :

Provides assistance to medical staff in the care of patients as required.

Education and Experience Required :

High School Graduate or GED. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification

Prefer MA/NA Certification Special Requirements :

Must be able to get along well with both staff and patients. Ability to speak English and Spanish Preferred. Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality. Maintains appropriate confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions :

The medical assistant will be responsible for the performance of waived laboratory tests. Package lab specimens for transport. Keep records of results of all tests and do lab test logs each month. Check lab supplies and order as necessary. Clean, wrap and sterilize all instruments, quality control on autoclave. Use free time available to assist other staff as needed. Assist the health providers as needed in the exam rooms. Take EKG's and mount them. Keep each examining room stocked. Take patients from the waiting room, putting them in appropriate exam rooms, get applicable vital signs (BP should always be included) and note a simple chief complaint on chart. Test vision. Know how to use machines for tympanometry, oximetry, neonatal stress test, and respiratory treatments. Know how to run all lab tests done at the clinic, and where to send tests not done at the clinic and which forms to fill out. File lab results in charts. Give all incoming lab results with the patient's chart to the physicians. Mail or fax lab results to other doctors and patients when needed. Supports EEO and PI policies and established standards of Ben Archer Health Center. Works in a culturally sensitive and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY IS NEGOTIABLE AND WILL BE DISCUSSED DURING INTERVIEW
