Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Substance Use Disorder Treatment team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in mens treatment facility This position requires a strong understanding of medical procedures and patient management, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform medical assistance to physician or physician assistant. Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms.
Client care to include:
vital signs, i.e., weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in the patient's chart. Give instructions to patients as instructed by the physician or physician assistant. Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies. Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls. Convey messages from clients and office staff to physician, physician assistant, RN and LVN. Entering medication from pharmacy into EMAR. Supervising the clients' self-administration of medications. Assist nursing staff in observation of clients undergoing detoxification. All other duties as assigned by supervising staff. Requirements Must have current certification as either a Medical Assistant, Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant or other comparable certification. Must maintain credentials and be currently certified to work in the state of California. It is desirable that recovering persons shall have a minimum of two (2) years continuous sobriety, with an ongoing recovery program. Must not have a felony conviction or have been incarcerated as a result of a felony conviction in the last three (3) years. Must have knowledge of the healthcare field, particularly in the field of substance use disorders. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Exceptional interpersonal skills and phone etiquette. Must be detail oriented. Work is performed with extensive client contact and frequent interruptions. Must be able to handle multiple priorities, to work under pressure and meet deadlines, as well as be flexible and dependable. Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills. Shall be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand as well as be able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through verbal and written words/sentences. Able to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Promote a positive response to change, with clients as well as other staff. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 40 pounds); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and fine coordination. Must have adequate close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable but not necessary. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
