About Volusia County Podiatry (VCP) Volusia County Podiatry is the premier podiatry practice located in DeBary, Florida, serving Central Florida Counties. Founded in 2019 by Dr. DeAndrea Duffus, DPM, VCP provides the highest quality of full foot and ankle care, including surgical interventions, diabetic foot care, and wound healing. At Volusia County Podiatry, we are committed to providing high-quality care to those we serve! Position Summary This is an exciting opportunity to join Volusia County Podiatry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). This vital position will provide patient clinical support, as well as, administrative assistance for VCP through scheduling, billing support, etc. Prior wound care experience in outpatient clinic and/or physician office settings preferred. VCP's main hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9 AM - 5 PM est Monday - Friday. Evenings may be required to fulfill work requirements. Pay is commensurate with experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will work under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician and the manager and be dedicated to assisting with clinical, as well as, administrative duties
  • Must adhere to all legal and ethical standards that govern the practice of a Medical Assistant
  • Prepare exam rooms for appointments, as well as, sanitize rooms between appointments, while adhering to all principles of infection control
  • Prepare and assist patients for examination
  • Ensure that labs, notes, etc. are entered into patients' medical record, timely and accurately
  • Notify physician of any abnormal labs or other abnormal findings immediately within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant
  • Complete follow ups to include, but not limited to, referrals, etc.
  • Perform simple aseptic procedure, as ordered
  • Complete non-invasive procedures, as ordered, in a timely manner in accordance to the scope of practice for Medical Assistants
  • Complete vital signs with the ability to recognize abnormalities and report findings promptly to physician
  • Receive and make phone and electronic communications on behalf of VCP, routing communication to the appropriate party quickly and efficiently
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the physician or the manager Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training with current Certification (CMA)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism in a fast-paced environment
  • Two (2) years of work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records
  • Must have basic knowledge of infection control precautions to include the use of donning on and off Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), knowledge of blood-borne precautions, COVID-19 precautions, as well as, precautions to reduce needle sticks
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience performing ABI studies is perfered
  • Bilingual a plus!
