UPMC Children's Specialty Services is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dedicated and collaborative pediatric care team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a multi-specialty pediatric clinic , supporting high-quality care for children and their families. While the primary assignment will be with the Gastroenterology team, the Medical Assistant will also receive cross-training across multiple pediatric specialties , creating opportunities to expand clinical knowledge and build a well-rounded skill set. With 10 pediatric specialties in one location , this role offers continuous learning and professional growth. What You'll Do:

Support physicians and clinical staff with direct patient care Prepare patients for exams and procedures Perform clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks to support clinic operations Help ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for patients and families Contribute to UPMC's standards for quality, safety, and patient satisfaction

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM No weekends or holidays

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to Lancaster-area offices 2-4 times per month Paid travel time and mileage reimbursement provided Salary will range from $19.00-$29.15 for this position. Responsibilities:

Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate. Other front office responsibilities, as required. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
