Job Description

Position Summary:
This hybrid position provides both clinical support to healthcare providers and front‐office/customer service duties. The Medical Assistant & Receptionist is responsible for preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring a welcoming experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support Greet patients, verify identity, and prepare them for examinations. Record patient histories, vital signs, and intake information accurately in the EHR. Assist physicians or nurse practitioners during exams and minor procedures (e.g., wound dressings, EKGs). Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed. Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens (blood, urine, swabs). Sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness and supply levels. Front‐Office & Administrative Welcome patients and visitors; check them in/out and verify contact and insurance information. Answer multi‐line phones: schedule, confirm, or reschedule appointments; handle inquiries and route calls. Collect co‑payments, issue receipts, and manage daily cash reconciliation.
Maintain patient records:
update demographics, scan documents, and ensure HIPAA‐compliant filing.
Manage office correspondence:
mail, faxes, emails, and referral paperwork. Monitor and order office and clinical supplies; manage vendor relationships. Collaboration & Compliance Coordinate with billing/coding staff to ensure accurate charge capture. Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines for infection control, patient privacy, and workplace safety. Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality‐improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA) preferred but not required. 1+ years' experience in a clinical and/or administrative role within a healthcare setting preferred. Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Prognosis, Epic,) and scheduling software. Strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills.
Basic clinical skills:
medical terminology, EKG, administration of injections. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
Part- time (2+ days/ week), coverage as needed. Pay based on experience Paid vacation Fast‐paced environment with shifting priorities between clinical and administrative tasks. Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
