Job Description
We currently have one opening in our OBGYN department (Monday through Friday).
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical/clerical support for their department in a team setting under the direction of the Lead and Clinical Manager.RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Perform assigned clinical job duties: Adhere to infection control policy/procedures. Obtain vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, etc.) and an accurate list of the patient's medications as well as other pertinent information needed for the physician to assess the patient while rooming. Assist physician with patient exams and procedures. Perform phlebotomy according to policy. Administer injections under direction of physician. Collect and label specimens correctly according to policy. Prioritize daily tasks. Perform EKG's according to policy. Perform quality controls daily as applicable. Send refill request for prescriptions to the physician according to policy and protocol. Phone triage/messages with physicians and patients. Document clearly and concisely in patient's Electronic Health Record (EHR) for all interactions. Reinforce/facilitate patient education per nursing/physician direction. Notify appropriate personnel immediately of abnormal test results. Complete annual required competency education. Frequently check physician schedules for changes and communicate these changes to physician. Actively engage in teamwork. Support the mission of MCHC. Communicate with positive intent. May be required to check-in patients by completing the registration process according to established office policies and procedures. Registers patients in the practice management system; acknowledges patient in EHR system. Verifies and updates patient complete demographic information. Collects identification and insurance cards and must scan them into electronic record. Verifies Insurance coverage and makes necessary updates, use of appropriate system. Prints encounter form (super bill, fee slip), labels as needed, enters patient information on white board. Obtain forms as needed. Understands the use of ABNSs and obtains signature when needed for non-covered services. Answers phone calls, takes messages, and makes appointments. Pulls prescriptions being picked up, copies ID and gets signature. Manages waiting room, responsible to ensure that all patients are moved through continuum of clinical visit. Makes return appointment for the patient if needed, schedules multiple appointments for OB patients. May be required to schedule patients. Answers incoming calls and directs patients to appropriate area for assistance. Works with the EHR queues. Performs other duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED or higher-level education required Satisfactory completion of formal Medical Assistant training from an accredited program Certification/Registration preferred Must have current BLS Experience in either OBGYN, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine Preferred Demonstrates ability to understand and utilize computer systems (i.e. Allscripts, Microsoft Office, insurance verification programs, etc.) Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills Function independently with flexibility and the ability to work with all levels of personnel, clinical, professional, and clerical Demonstrate professional conduct in the clinical setting, and adjusts easily to changes in schedules and clinical staff Adheres to policies and procedures Fulfills position Responsibilities and Expectations as outlined Always maintains HIPAA standards to secure highly confidential patient data and/or situations Cross trains in all practices and departments within My Community Health Center as requested Willingness and ability to move throughout different clinical departments and the front office to cover for vacations and/or call offs to meet the needs of any clinic on any dayJob Type:
