Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating smooth communication between medical providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your efforts will directly contribute to the financial health of the practice while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Duties Review and verify medical records to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes Assign appropriate codes using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to facilitate precise reimbursement Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or via paper submissions Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through medical collection processes and resolve discrepancies promptly Maintain and update electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring all billing information is current and accurate Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries and payment status Ensure compliance with medical coding standards, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations in all documentation Qualifications Proven experience in medical office administration or medical billing roles Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and related coding systems Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems Excellent understanding of medical terminology and medical records management Ability to interpret insurance policies and perform effective follow-up on outstanding claims Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple billing tasks efficiently Prior experience with medical collections and revenue cycle management is preferred Join us to make a meaningful impact by ensuring our healthcare services are accurately billed and efficiently managed.
