Job Description

Apply Job Type Full-time Description Medical Lab Technician:
I. Job Summary / Job Purpose (Safety-Sensitive) Under direct supervision, conducts routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. II. Key Responsibilities Prepare specimens for microscope examination using standard techniques and equipment. Perform testing and reports test results in urinalysis, hematology and chemistry. Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Prepare slides as necessary for microscopic analysis in hematology. Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability and critical limits. Follow quality control policies and documents quality control activities. Maintain instruments and equipment. Call critical values to providers per policy. Resolve pending reports at end of shift. Communicate to day shift any issues/problems to address. Perform other duties as assigned. III. Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages. V. Job Requirements / Qualifications •MLT Certification preferred or a 4 year degree in Biology. a.
Education / Accreditation
/ Licensure (required & preferred): Associate degree in related field preferred. Graduation from an accredited MLT program required. Eligible for ASCP or AMT certification required. b.
