Join Our Care Team as a Medical Provider Multiple Roles Available | Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center (HICHC) Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center (HICHC) is seeking compassionate, mission‑driven Medical Providers to join our integrated, patient‑centered care team. Available Positions & Salary Ranges Nurse Practitioner (NP): $114,467•$154,868.20 annually Physician Assistant (PA): $114,467•$154,868.20 annually
Pediatrician:
$190,000•$257,058.82 annually Physician (Family Practice or Internal Medicine): $190,000•$257,058.82 annually Qualifications Current MD, DO, NP, or PA credentials Specialty training or experience in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and/or Women's Health preferred Eligible for credentialing in the State of Hawaiʻi Experience working in a community health center or with underserved, low‑income, and culturally diverse populations is highly desirable Position Summary Under the general direction of the Vice President of Medical Services , the Medical Provider delivers comprehensive primary care services using current clinical guidelines and evidence‑based medicine. Providers play a vital role in patient education, disease prevention, and health advocacy while working within an integrated care team model. Clinical Responsibilities Deliver a full scope of primary care services, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, prescribing, and patient education Manage acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and preventive health care across the lifespan Provide age‑ and life‑cycle appropriate care Refer patients to specialists when care is beyond scope Participate actively in an interdisciplinary, patient‑centered care team Provide timely phone advice and follow‑up per clinic protocols Supervise medical students, residents, or other health professional learners as appropriate Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EHR system (within 48 hours, preferably same day)
Please Note:
This position does not include inpatient coverage, admitting privileges, or obstetrical deliveries. Quality & Team Engagement Participate in quality improvement, peer review, case reviews, and performance initiatives Support health education programs and preventive care protocols Advocate for patient needs and coordinate care across services Attend provider, leadership, and all‑staff meetings as required Compliance & Professional Standards Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality Stay current with clinical guidelines, continuing education, and medical literature Maintain all licensure, board certification, and required training Comply with grant‑related program requirements (e.g., Family Planning, BCCCP) Follow clinic safety, infection control, emergency, and disaster preparedness protocols Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong clinical judgment and analytical skills Excellent communication and organization skills Ability to work compassionately and non‑judgmentally with diverse populations Working knowledge of EHR systems and Microsoft Office Cultural sensitivity and willingness to serve a multilingual patient population Work Environment & Schedule Eight‑ or ten‑hour workdays, scheduled based on operational needs Clinic‑based work environment Exposure to infectious diseases inherent in clinical care This is an exempt position under FLSA Personal Characteristics We Value Team‑oriented and collaborative Self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision High integrity and professionalism Organized, adaptable, and respectful of diverse communities Our Commitment At HICHC, we are committed to fostering a supportive workplace where providers can thrive while delivering high‑quality, compassionate care to the communities we serve.
