Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where your energetic and organized approach will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you will manage front desk operations, coordinate patient appointments, handle medical records, and provide exceptional customer service. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive experience from the moment they arrive. Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth billing processes. Collect and process payments, including medical collections and billing using medical coding standards like CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10. Manage medical records with accuracy, ensuring proper filing, documentation review, and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; assist with patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately. Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, and maintaining accurate documentation in office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Assist with intake procedures, medical scheduling, and coordinating care plans for patients across various specialties including dental clinics or hospital settings. Support office management by maintaining organized files, handling clerical tasks, and ensuring efficient front desk operations. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and effective communication regarding patient care plans. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clinic experience preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing procedures. Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and process payments efficiently. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with dental software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and recordkeeping compliance under HIPAA standards. Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations. Previous office management or administrative support experience in healthcare settings such as hospitals or dental clinics is preferred. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a friendly demeanor in fast-paced environments.
