Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires proficiency with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, medical billing, and coding processes, ensuring smooth clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Receptionist will handle appointment scheduling, insurance verification, patient intake, and maintain accurate medical records, supporting the overall delivery of quality patient care. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy Schedule appointments using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, and Eaglesoft Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance authorization and verification procedures Collect payments and process medical billing using CPT and ICD coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations Maintain accurate documentation review and ensure proper coding for billing purposes Manage patient check-in/check-out procedures including data entry and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) Assist with medical intake processes, including collecting medical history and updating care plans Handle filing of medical records, documentation review, and management of health information in accordance with privacy laws Provide excellent patient service by addressing inquiries related to appointments, billing, and medical records Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, and using office software like Microsoft Office Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards and maintain confidentiality of all patient information Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred; clinic or dental office experience is a plus Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft is highly desirable Knowledge of medical terminology including
ICD-9/ICD-10
codes, CPT coding, Medicare guidelines, and health information management practices Strong computer skills including typing (10 key typing), familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, and multi-line phone system operation Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus Ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and insurance verification processes Customer service-oriented mindset with experience in front desk or administrative support roles within a healthcare setting This position offers an opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated healthcare team committed to providing exceptional patient care through efficient administrative support.
