Medical Records Coordinator Genesis Behavioral Hospital - 3.2 Breaux Bridge, LA Job Details Full-time 13 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Computer operation CPR Certification CPI Certification Computer literacy BLS Certification CPR Data entry Environmental issues Full Job Description Genesis Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient psychiatric services as well as partial hospitalization programs and intensive outpatient programs. The hospital is looking for a Medical Records Coordinator works under the direction of an HIM consultant and would be responsible for but not limited to the following: Creates Master Patient Index by entering data from admission face sheet into the computer database Responds to requests for medical records, including legal and court cases, following applicable state and federal laws concerning the confidentiality of medical records. Provides assistance to other departments with creating, updating and distributing documents used as a medical record, following applicable state, federal and company bylaws. Supervise all activities and maintain overall responsibility relative to documentation, usage, retrieval, and storage of all inpatient records. Collects data and maintains ongoing chart deficiency and delinquency lists. Produces monthly statistical report by the second working day of the month. Assures the timely completion, integrity, authenticity, and accessibility of all inpatient medical records Manages on-site medical records storage and prepares/logs charts for transfer to off-site medical records storage. Qualifications Degree in related field or experience in medical records auditing and maintenance. Background in medical records or healthcare. Attention to detail Basic knowledge of medical record documentation requirements and timelines. Ability to work tactfully and cooperatively with internal and external departments in resolving maintenance or environmental service issues. Broad knowledge is required for this position. Specifically, the ability to integrate information from all disciplines - from admission, nursing, physicians, administration, regulatory agencies and corporate, etc. - is a necessity. Strong problem solving and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Sound computer skills Ability to work flexible hours Maintain current CPR and CPI training
