Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a medical-surgical telemetry unit, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate treatment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in acute care settings, demonstrating proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration, and utilization of electronic health record (EHR) systems. Your expertise will contribute significantly to patient recovery and well-being through meticulous monitoring and personalized care. Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and review of medical histories using advanced EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Monitor cardiac telemetry data continuously to detect arrhythmias or other critical changes, responding promptly to emergent situations. Administer medications accurately, including IV infusions and injections, adhering to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient needs. Document all patient interactions, treatments, and observations meticulously in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests, radiology procedures (e.g., CT scans), and catheterizations. Provide patient education on health management, discharge instructions, and post-hospital care plans. Support triage activities by prioritizing patient needs efficiently within fast-paced environments like emergency rooms or urgent care centers. Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, or chronic conditions such as diabetes or cardiac disorders. Ensure infection control practices are maintained rigorously to promote a safe healing environment. Experience Proven experience as a Registered Nurse in medical-surgical units with telemetry monitoring capabilities. Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or Level I Trauma Center exposure. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential for accurate documentation and order entry. Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to adult patient care. Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring long-term care services. Competence in performing procedures such as suturing, venipuncture, IV insertion, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with healthcare compliance standards including HIPAA and NCQA standards. Prior involvement in case management or discharge planning activities is advantageous. Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine settings.
