Job Summary The Medical Technologist I performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. You will ensure accurate and reliable results by strictly adhering to quality control (QC) protocols and maintaining state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation. This role is vital to patient care, requiring efficient testing, equipment troubleshooting, and meticulous data collection for regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions Diagnostic Testing :

Accurately performs high-complexity laboratory testing and ensures timely reporting of results.

Quality Control :

Adheres to QC procedures, troubleshooting out-of-range results and executing corrective actions.

Equipment Maintenance :

Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance and instrument function checks.

Technical Troubleshooting :

Resolves instrument malfunctions or coordinates with manufacturers for repairs.

Compliance & Safety :

Maintains a safe work environment by following OSHA and laboratory safety plans, including proper PPE usage.

Effective Communication :

Provides timely updates to healthcare staff regarding critical results and instrument status.

Accreditation Support :

Assists with proficiency testing and data collection for CAP/CLIA and other regulatory bodies.

Clinical Support :

Performs phlebotomy and chain-of-custody urine drug screen collection as needed.

Collaboration :

Works seamlessly with the night shift team to ensure all department responsibilities are met. Required Qualifications Education (One of the following is required): Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science. Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW).

Experience :

0-2 years of acute care experience required. Licenses and Certifications (One of the following is required): ASCP

• Medical Technologist AMT
• Medical Laboratory Technologist AAB
• Medical Laboratory Technologist Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive understanding of laboratory procedures, QC protocols, and safety regulations.

Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues with clinical laboratory instruments. Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet strict testing deadlines. Adept at using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with medical staff. Why Powell, TN?
