Job Description

Job Overview As a Wheelchair Van Driver/ambulatory van driver , you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and reliable transportation for individuals with mobility challenges. Your commitment to exceptional customer service will shine as you assist passengers in boarding and alighting from the vehicle, while also providing a friendly and supportive environment. You'll be responsible for navigating various routes efficiently and maintaining the vehicle to ensure it's always in top condition. Join us in making a difference in the lives of those you serve! What you'll do Safely transport passengers using wheelchair-accessible vans/or ensuring they are in there seatbelt, ensuring comfort and security throughout the journey Assist passengers with boarding, securing wheelchairs, and disembarking from the vehicle Maintain a clean and well-functioning vehicle by performing regular inspections and basic maintenance tasks Communicate effectively with passengers, caregivers, and dispatch to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving to ensure the safety of all passengers Document daily trip logs, including passenger counts and any incidents that may occur during transport Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger needs with empathy and professionalism Basic qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record MUST pass driving record, drug record and background check. Preferred qualifications Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques for assisting passengers with mobility devices Previous experience in limousine or commercial driving is a plus but not required. Full-Time / Part-Time Job Summary The Dispatcher / Receptionist is responsible for managing incoming calls, scheduling and dispatching drivers, supporting daily transportation operations, assisting with hiring coordination, and maintaining accurate records. This position is essential to ensuring safe, timely, and professional non-emergency medical transportation services. Key ResponsibilitiesReception & Customer Service Answer incoming calls professionally and courteously Greet clients, drivers, applicants, and visitors Respond to trip requests, questions, and concerns Maintain professional communication with members and facilities Dispatch & Scheduling Schedule and dispatch drivers using dispatch software (WellRyde or similar) Assign trips based on driver availability, location, and trip requirements Monitor trips in progress and communicate delays or changes Ensure accurate pickup and drop-off locations are followed Driver Support Communicate trip details and updates to drivers Assist drivers with app, GPS, or trip issues Track driver attendance, late arrivals, and call-outs Report issues to management promptly Hiring & Administrative Support Schedule interviews and coordinate applicant communication Assist with onboarding paperwork and driver file setup Maintain employee and applicant records Vehicle Maintenance & Fuel Input Collect and record vehicle mileage and fuel usage Track maintenance needs and service schedules Report vehicle or safety issues to management Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate dispatch logs, trip records, and reports Follow HIPAA and confidentiality policies Adhere to company policies and procedures Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Strong communication and customer service skills Basic computer and data-entry skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Dispatch or receptionist experience Medical transportation or healthcare experience Familiarity with dispatch software or GPS systems Experience assisting with hiring or scheduling Skills & Abilities Excellent phone etiquette Strong organizational skills Attention to detail Ability to remain calm under pressure Work Schedule May include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Acknowledgment Employees are expected to perform all duties professionally and in compliance with company policies.
