Job Description Operate and maintain furnaces. Interpret and respond to the needs of the equipment. Perform skilled maintenance, set-up and troubleshooting functions as required. Follow standard manufacturing and operating procedures Strong learning aptitude required-75% of the knowledge required must be learned on the job Must develop an understanding of basic "vacuum" ,"plasma" and "helium" technologies Perform pre-operative checks prior to and during pump down cycle. Use pre-pump and start up checklist Set up and operate the furnace as directed for melting to include: Loading material Pumping down furnace Setting torch patterns Operating data logging instrumentation Melting and casting Unloading ingots Ability to understand basic chemistry specifications and interpret furnace-casting conditions is required Must be able to interpret video monitors, gauges, meters, etc. while operating the Plasma furnace Maintain operating records and logs Maintain material and maintenance needed lists Perform pumping speed and rate of rise tests to determine condition of vacuum system Clean out furnaces during maintenance cycles and replace damaged components. Change molds, hearths, shields, and feed devices. Operate leak detectors Use various hand and power tools as directed Perform maintenance required ensuring good operating condition of furnace and auxiliary equipment such as electrical, electronic, vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling systems. Must be willing to work on many jobs that are in hot and dirty environments Correctly uses material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes Perform mechanical skill functions such as flame cut, arc weld, silver solder, and soft solder Correctly use such tools as wrench, drills, grinders, saws Perform maintenance work Work in accordance with established safety rules and good housekeeping practices. Must be able to wear a respirator. Education and Experience High school diploma/GED or equivalent is required; Trade school or additional training preferred 3 years working experience in a relevant environment preferred Must be mechanically inclined and possess basic math skills Must be able to work any schedule, holidays and weekends Forklift, crane-operating experience highly preferred Must be able to wear a respirator Ability to work in confined spaces Referral Eligible Relocation Relocation is authorized for this position.
