Full-Time Position Summary Adult & Teen Challenge of New Mexico (ATCNM) is seeking a Primary Mental Health Counselor for our Roswell Women's Program. This role will focus on providing trauma-informed, evidence-based mental health counseling to women in a residential recovery setting. The counselor will provide intake and diagnostic evaluations, individual therapy, and psychotherapy groups, with a strong emphasis on treating trauma, co-occurring mental health conditions, and substance use disorders. The role integrates clinical best practices with Christian values, supporting whole-person healing: mind, body, and spirit. This position serves as the primary mental health provider for the women's program and plays a key role in shaping the clinical direction of services. Key Responsibilities 1. Intake and Diagnostic Evaluation Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including trauma history, presenting concerns, and treatment needs. Complete accurate diagnostic evaluations and establish appropriate clinical diagnoses. Develop initial treatment recommendations and collaborate with the treatment team. 2. Individual Counseling (Trauma-Focused) Provide individual therapy using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches. Address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Integrate Christian principles in a clinically appropriate and respectful manner to support emotional and spiritual growth. 3. Psychotherapy Group Services Facilitate and lead psychotherapy groups for women in the residential program. Develop and implement group curricula focused on trauma recovery, emotional regulation, coping skills, and mental health stabilization. Utilize structured group models such as DBT skills, trauma processing, and psychoeducation when appropriate. 4. Treatment Planning Collaborate with clients to develop individualized, trauma-informed treatment plans. Monitor progress and update treatment goals based on clinical need and client progress. Coordinate care with residential staff, case managers, and clinical leadership. 5. Crisis Intervention Respond to mental health crises with calm, clinical judgment and appropriate intervention. Coordinate with the treatment team and external resources when higher levels of care are required. 6. Documentation and Communication Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, case managers, probation officers, and family members when appropriate. Immediately report suspected abuse or neglect to the Clinical Services Supervisor (CSS) and Child Protective Services, as required by law. 7. Professional Development and Ethics Participate in supervision, consultation, and ongoing training. Stay current on best practices in trauma treatment, mental health counseling, and co-occurring disorders. Adhere to all ethical standards, licensing requirements, HIPAA regulations, and Hope Counseling/ATCNM policies and procedures. Qualifications Required Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Current or eligible New Mexico licensure (LPCC, LCSW, LMHC, or LMSW under supervision). At least one year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Experience providing individual and group therapy in a behavioral health or residential setting. Commitment to trauma-informed care and ethical clinical practice.

Preferred / Strong

Plus Training or experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Training or certification in EMDR or other trauma-specific modalities. Experience working with adult women in recovery or residential treatment settings. Comfort integrating Christian values within a clinical framework.

Pay:

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
