Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our Crisis Unit located in Brantley, AL in Crenshaw County . This position operates within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, providing person-centered crisis stabilization, temporary observation, and intensive support for individuals experiencing acute behavioral health emergencies. In this role, you will work directly with adults requiring close monitoring, immediate intervention, and stabilization in a safe, structured, and therapeutic crisis care environment.
Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment Strong observation, assessment, communication, and de-escalation skills Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral, emotional, and safety concerns Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary crisis response team Must possess maturity, confidence, and emotional stability in high-stress behavioral health settings Physical ability to implement Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) interventions, including lifting up to 85 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and stoop as required for continuous observation and consumer care Must become Medication Assistance Certified (MAC) upon hire to assist with medications and delegated nursing tasks Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays Experience in crisis services, inpatient behavioral health, or mental health settings preferred Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques preferred
Responsibilities:
Provide continuous observation, supervision, and support for individuals in temporary observation and crisis stabilization status within the Crisis Unit Monitor, document, and report consumer behavior, mood, safety concerns, and clinical observations in real time Respond promptly to behavioral health crises using approved de-escalation, intervention, and crisis response techniques Implement Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) interventions as necessary to maintain safety for consumers and staff Assist with intake, orientation, admission, and discharge processes as directed within the CCBHC crisis care continuum Support consumers with activities of daily living, emotional support, and stabilization needs during crisis intervention services Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and therapeutic crisis care environment Assist with medications and other delegated nursing tasks as assigned Collaborate with clinical staff and multidisciplinary team members to support stabilization, treatment planning, recovery goals, and continuity of care Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with agency standards, regulatory requirements, and CCBHC guidelines
Work Environment:
