This Technician position does not require a degree, but some college and knowledge of Laboratory Procedures as well as Non-Destructive Testing is desired. Good mechanical skills; ability to read and interpret specifications and technical data; and good communication skills are required. Types of testing you would be doing in our Mechanical laboratory: Includes Mechanical set up and assembly of equipment, Non-Destructive Testing (Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Testing exclusively), passivation processing, inspection and recommendations on any modifications. Qualifications. Report writing for all testing and analysis. Types of testing you would be doing in our Metallurgical and Mechanical laboratory: Microstructure & Macrostructure (Macro/Micro). cut specimens, mount, polish and acid etch specimen. Measure grain size and indications. look for evidence of overheating or grinding burns. check grain flow in the head of the fastener after forging process. Look for bursts, voids cracks, laps in the material and threads from the heading and rolling processes. Carburization and Decarburization. Untempered Martensite. Micro Hardness Testing and Rockwell hardness testing. Ultimate Tensile Testing (300,000 lbs capacity). Double Shear Testing (300,000 lbs capacity). Torque Testing. Tension Fatigue Testing - (110 KIP). Chemical Analysis via "EDXRF" material data analyzer. Non-Destructive Testing (PT, MT). Passivation Processing. '
