Army JROTC Instructor Pay Schedule Benefits:
Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance with five different plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, voluntary insurance options, and a supplemental life program. Employees are entitled to sick time, vacation time, bereavement days, holidays, and longevity pay. Flexible spending accounts (FSA) or healthcare savings accounts (HSA) are available based on the elected medical plan. Additionally, retirement savings plans are provided through the State of Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS). These benefits are available after just one full day of employment.

AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Senior Instructor for Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is responsible for leading the instructional program and implementing activities for high school students working toward careers in the armed forces. The instructor is responsible for meeting the unique needs of the students assigned to the program and prepares students for careers in the armed forces. Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to): Instructs cadets in the
NDCC/JROTC
curriculum during the school year. Develops short- and long-range plans for achieving curriculum goals, gathers appropriate materials, establishes clear objectives for lessons, and formulates appropriate lesson plans. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and the personal growth of students. Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the
NDCC/JROTC
program. Monitors student activities to ensure a safe and orderly environment at all times. Motivates and encourages students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen. Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for
NDCC/JROTC
cadets to include color guard, drill teams and other special activities. Maintains
NDCC/JROTC
student records as required by the U.S. Army
NDCC/JROTC
Cadet Command and local policies. Updates curriculum each year. Complies with Army
NDCC/JROTC
Cadet Command and school district safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring and accompanying cadets. Markets the
NDCC/JROTC
program in the school and community, and maintain enrollment standards. Assesses and measures student growth Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Army security regulations. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media. Attends Career Technical Education Area center functions and events. Meets JROTC instructor professional development requirements required by U.S. Army JROTC Cadet Command. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
Actively participates on the school improvement team. Represents Genesee Intermediate School District at various local, regional and state functions. Participates in graduation and awards programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
Experience:
Must be a retired United States Army Officer, certified by the United States Cadet Command.
Skills/Other:
Demonstrates appropriate teaching strategies for all students. Demonstrates an understanding of adolescent developmental patterns. Demonstrates a commitment to GISD mission, purpose, belief statements and learning principles. Possesses a strong working knowledge of subject matter and current research on learning. Possesses a high level of skill in developing stimulating student assignments and varied student assessment vehicles. Possesses an ability to develop and reinforce a positive self-concept in each student. Exhibits self-control, mature judgment, congeniality, and ethical standards in all working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Ability to assess and determine the appropriate use of a variety of student standards in all working relationships. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible work day, work week, and work year. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with GISD board policies and established administrative guidelines.
