Boeing Defense, Space & Security's (BDS) Vertical Lift Mission Assurance Organization is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to join our System Safety Engineering Team in Ridley Park, PA supporting the Cargo, Utility, and Tiltrotor Programs. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level (Level 3) or Senior (Level 4) System Safety Engineers . The Cargo, Utility, and Tiltrotor Programs is looking for a Senior System Safety Engineer that can assess hazards across a broad range of Subsystems including Airframes, Electrical, Mechanical and Software. The ideal candidate will have System Safety experience, rotorcraft safety experience (ARP 4761 and
MIL STD 882E
), and/or H-47, MH-139, and V-22 platform knowledge. Military and maritime experience is a plus along with strong technical writing and communication skills. At Boeing, Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a Senior System Safety Engineer, you will work across the entire program lifecycle, from conceptual development into design and test, production, and sustainment of fielded aircraft for both USG and International customers. We are looking for candidates that can ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking, and identify potential hazards to our aircraft and crew. You'll have the opportunity to interface with all levels of Engineering and Program Management as well as our customers. This is an opportunity to expand your skills in a fast-growing and critical discipline, where you will have the chance to lead appropriate efforts.
Primary responsibilities:
Provides engineering leadership to multiple teams to ensure thoughtful strategic planning, development of objective statements of work, scheduling of work and estimatin g Evaluate customer specifications and regulations, and assess the design to develop safety requirements, constraints, and operating limit s Develop System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs ) Perform a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle, such as Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Aircraft and System Preliminary System Safety Analyses (PSSA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA), Zonal Analysis, Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), Operational Health Hazard Analysis (OHHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Safety Assessment Report (SAR), System Safety Risk Assessments (SSRA) and Fault Tree Analyses (FTA ) Review engineering design specifications, test and manufacturing operations, change proposals, anomaly reports, and deviation/waiver requests for potential safety impact s Collaborate with government, customer and program domain expert s Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for government/customer safety boards, program design reviews, and test/mission readiness review s Develop proposals, work statements, and specifications affecting system safety engineering scope and budge t Deliver oral and written system safety and risk presentations to peers, program management, senior leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statemen t 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienc e Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenshi p 2+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineerin g 3+ years of experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation and completion Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience): Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienc e Experience with Rotorcraft system s Experience with SAE Standard
