Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician in the Romulus Quality Department. The Technician shall perform general day-to-day QC activities including verifying product samples, auditing product at machines and workstations, documenting nonconforming material, performing calibrations, etc. The Quality Assurance Technician works in concert with all departments to support the quality system and ensure conformance to the company's quality standards. The successful candidate must obtain their CQT and/or CQE certification from American Society of Quality (ASQ) by Dec 2027.
RESPONSIBIITIES
  • Performs initial customer sample inspection along with first articles, floor audits and final inspections using a variety of variable and attribute measuring instruments.
  • Perform production floor audits.
  • Inspection of incoming materials.
  • Record and monitor inspection sample data.
  • Identify and document specification nonconformances.
  • Maintain customer quality files.
  • Prepare required certifications for customer shipments.
  • Assist in source inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Maintain and comply with the quality system.
  • Exhibit positive, supportive behavior in all interactions with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers.
  • Perform instrument calibrations and maintain the gage calibration schedule and records.
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate process data.
  • Assist in the training of production employees.
  • Participate in quality planning activities to determine the need for specialized measuring techniques and identify methods of process monitoring.
  • Assist in the development of quality instructions for production use.
  • Work with team to complete the production part approval process (PPAP)
  • Perform or outsource product raw material testing.
  • Serve as a member of the internal audit team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Solid math skills
  • Moderate computer skills, Competency in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of measurement techniques
  • General knowledge of Statistical Process Control and SPC tools such as control chart, pareto analyses, and histograms, etc.
  • Advanced blueprint reading
  • Excellent communication skills
  • General knowledge of and familiarity with
ISO 9001
  • Experience in a thermoplastic extrusion environment or internal audit experience are a plus
  • Good standing with attendance and discipline
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
