Middle School Science Teacher (2026-27 School Year) Friends Academy - 3.7 North Dartmouth, MA Job Details 7 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Teaching Full Job Description We seek a dedicated, positive, and innovative Middle School Science Teacher who has a deep understanding of the unique developmental, social and academic characteristics of early adolescents. The Middle School Science Teacher will design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based science instruction aligned with Next Generation Science Standards, fostering critical thinking, collaborative problem solving and a love of learning. The teacher will serve as an advisor to a group of middle school students, acting as a key point of contact and advocate for each student's academic, social, and emotional growth.
The ideal candidate would:
Have a genuine passion for working with middle school students. Have experience teaching physical, life, and earth & space sciences. Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based science lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Demonstrate strong planning and preparation skills, including the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners' needs. Collaborate effectively with department colleagues as well as grade-level team members to support student success. Communicate clearly and proactively with students, families, and colleagues. Reflect on practice, seek feedback, and engage in ongoing professional growth. Contribute positively to the school community, including advisory, service learning, or extracurricular opportunities. Promote responsible citizenship and respect for diversity and differences. Communicate with families regularly, acting as a point of contact regarding a student's academic, social, and emotional progress. Commit to positive, proactive classroom management practices
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Teaching experience required. Dedication to teaching and learning in a school community committed to equity and inclusion. Comply with the guidelines of the Friends Academy Faculty and Staff Handbook.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise morning arrival (7:30-8:00am), afternoon dismissal, and occasional lunch and recess times. Contribute to and lead electives, service activities, field trips, and personal projects. Chaperone social activities and Outside The Classroom trips. Attend special after-school and weekend events such as professional development and faculty meetings, Back to School Night, FriendsFest, Faculty Appreciation Night, and Class Day. Report student learning through student portfolios, narrative report cards, and conferences. Promote student ownership of learning through reflection and student-led goal setting.
