Job Description
The Bellmore-Merrick Central HS District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Middle School Science Teacher to serve as a full-year leave replacement. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the New York State Science Learning Standards and foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
General Responsibilities
Plan and implement effective science instruction for middle school students (grades 7-8)
Develop lesson plans aligned with NYS Science Learning Standards
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
Incorporate hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences and laboratory activities
Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly
Maintain a safe and organized classroom and laboratory environment
Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
Job Qualifications
Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Science (General Science 7-12 or appropriate middle-level extension required)
Strong knowledge of middle school science curriculum and instructional best practices
Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
