Job Description
A Carter Lumber Millwork Technician plays a hands‑on role in producing high‑quality custom millwork and door products. This position fulfills special orders accurately and efficiently by reading and calculating measurements, operating woodworking tools and machinery, and assembling products to customer specifications. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a millwork or woodworking environment; door shop experience preferred but willing to train General carpentry skills and familiarity with woodworking tools Strong attention to detail and ability to produce precise, high‑quality work Strong mathematical skills for calculating measurements Proficiency with power tools, tape measures, air nailers, staplers, and related equipment Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team Ability to perform heavy lifting and safely handle materialsResponsibilities:
Set‑Up Prepare equipment and materials for millwork and door assembly Review and analyze custom orders to ensure correct materials are available Production Produce custom millwork such as moulding, newels, and fireplace mantels based on customer designs Manufacture and assemble interior prehung doors on the door assembly line Operate woodworking machinery to cut, shape, and assemble components to exact specifications Utilize specialized tools to create detailed, intricate millwork Pick and pull production materials as needed Evaluate finished products to ensure they meet customer expectations and quality standards Safety Follow all safety requirements when operating tools and equipment Handle materials safely and appropriately Report defects, hazards, or safety concerns immediately Benefits (full-time employees): Health, Dental, Vision (Single and Family Plans) available after 30 days of employment Short and Long-Term Disability Company-paid life insurance and AD&D Optional supplemental life insurance Company-match 401(k) Vacation time and paid holidays Vendor incentives Room for growth; we promote from within!
