Full-time Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Stepping Up Mental Health/Substance Use Therapist to join our behavioral health team. This position serves individuals involved in the Butler County Jail system and community reentry process by providing person-centered mental health and substance use treatment services to individuals experiencing co-occurring behavioral health needs. Operating within the CCBHC model of care, this role focuses on integrated treatment, recovery support, care coordination, and continuity of services for justice-involved individuals. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals achieve recovery and stability while reducing barriers to treatment and successful community reintegration.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree required in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or another mental health-related field Successful completion of Alabama Department of Mental Health (DMH/MR) State-Mandated Training Program following hire Must obtain Substance Use (SU) Certification within 30 months of hire Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders preferred Experience working with justice-involved populations, crisis intervention, or integrated behavioral health preferred Strong clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention, and documentation skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team Knowledge of CCBHC principles, integrated care coordination, and recovery-oriented practices preferred Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

Provide direct clinical treatment services including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, collateral counseling, and therapeutic interventions for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Manage and support an intensive caseload within the Butler County Jail system and community reentry settings Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance use assessments, including MI and SU evaluations, to identify treatment needs and support service planning Develop and maintain individualized, person-centered treatment plans that promote recovery, stabilization, and long-term wellness Conduct systematic assessments of consumers' unmet needs and assist with coordination of behavioral health, medical, housing, employment, and community support services Collaborate with the Program Director, jail personnel, court systems, and multidisciplinary treatment teams to coordinate continuity of care Teach and reinforce Basic Living Skills (BLS) and recovery-oriented coping strategies Provide clinical consultation, collaboration, and training support to staff as needed Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with agency standards, Medicaid regulations, and CCBHC requirements Promote trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and evidence-based treatment practices throughout service delivery Remain flexible in supporting additional clinical and program service needs as required #indscamhc Must have Master's degree in mental health related field; current driver's license, eligibility for coverage under center liability insurance and individually held vehicle liability insurance and clear background check.
