GLUER OPERATOR
- Wood Panels Harris Hardwoods in Foreston, MN will be hiring 1 experienced Gluer Operator. We offer a competitive salary, broad range of benefits, great hours, 3-day weekends, and year around work! Gluer Operators are responsible for laying up and aligning wood staves by color, operating and maintaining the glue clamp carrier equipment to assemble and bond staves into panels, and other associated roles and responsibilities within the process. Operators ensure panels meet production specifications - producing the high-quality, aesthetically uniform panels expected from Harris Hardwoods. They are also responsible for maintaining safety and efficiency standards.Education and Experience:
Previous experience in a woodworking, manufacturing / production environment is helpful and preferred. Familiarity with stave layup processes, hydraulic clamping equipment, and glue application is a plus. Company specifics & requirements are trained on the job.Key Responsibilities:
Stave Layup and Alignment:
Laying up wood staves by color and grade, ensuring panels are uniformly colored and meet production requirements.Glue Application:
Accurately applying glue to stave surfaces, ensuring proper coverage for secure bonding.Clamp Operation:
Operating hydraulic clamp carrier machines to press and secure staves together, monitoring clamping pressure and cycle times.Panel Handling:
Removing dried panels from clamps, inspecting for quality, and preparing them for subsequent production stages.Quality Assurance:
Conducting visual inspections during and after the clamping process to identify defects or inconsistencies. Following standard operating procedures and seeking improvement.Stacking and Labeling:
Neatly stacking completed panels and labeling them appropriately for identification and workflow tracking.Paperwork:
Keeping complete, accurate, legible documentation.Equipment Maintenance:
Performing routine checks and basic maintenance as trained on glue clamp carrier machinery to ensure optimal operation. Reporting any issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team.Safety Compliance:
Following all workplace safety guidelines, proper handling of glue, and operating machinery safely. Other Duties and General Requirements Maintain good attendance and be punctual Be organized and make good use of time Keep the work area, machinery, and tools neat and clean and in proper order Follow standard operating procedures and seek continuous improvement throughout the department Follow all workplace safety guidelines The use of protective safety gear and equipment is always required Attend all safety training and other company meetings as required Stay informed by reading company communications and postings on the Employee Bulletin Board Be willing to cross-train when available and assist in other work areas when needed Read and understand the company's Employee Handbook for company policy, procedures and goals Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards - ensuring project specifications are met Keep complete, accurate, legible documentation Be a self-starter, requiring minimal supervision to stay on task and complete assigned tasks Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work collaboratively and respectfully with team members. Physical Requirements The use of safety glasses, hearing protection, protective shoes, and other specific PPE are required Must be able to: stand for long periods, walk, squat, stoop, bend, reach, and turn Must be able to negotiate all normal body movements associated with climbing a ladder Must be able to lift/move/push up to 75 lbs safely and correctly General Qualifications Minimum age requirement for machine operation: 18 years High School Diploma/GED Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug test Must be able to reliably commute to Foreston MN Desirable qualifications (though not necessarily required): Basic computer skills and experience with MS Excel Ability to recognize wood species and grades of lumber Familiarity with saws, tools, and related equipment Working Conditions Regular work hours for 1st Shift are: Monday - Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm, with occasional work required on Fridays. Workplace noise is in the high range and requires to use of hearing protection The workplace is a semi-climate-controlled environment - it will be warm in the summer and cold in the winter Wood dust will be presentDisclaimer:
