Full-Time The Women's Safe House (TWSH) is the oldest and largest provider of emergency shelter services for women and children experiencing domestic violence in the St. Louis region. We also serve survivors of sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. TWSH is a 24-hour confidential facility and an active member of the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. We are committed to providing trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and empowerment-based services that promote safety, dignity, and healing.POSITION SUMMARY
The Women's Advocate serves as a primary trauma-informed service provider during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for crisis intervention, hotline coverage, shelter safety monitoring, resident advocacy, compliance documentation, and daily shelter operations. This position requires a high level of professionalism, accountability, emotional intelligence, and adherence to confidentiality standards. This position receives ongoing supervision and annual performance evaluation from the Women's Advocate Supervisor & Operations Manager.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Answer and respond to the Crisis Intervention Hotline. Provide trauma-informed listening and crisis intervention. Conduct danger/risk assessments and develop safety plans. Provide referrals (medical, legal, mental health, housing, etc.). Ensure adequate hotline coverage during shifts. Provide direct advocacy services to residents and callers. Shelter Operations & Resident Support Complete shelter intake, orientation, and required documentation. Monitor shelter premises to maintain safety and confidentiality. Provide or arrange transportation for shelter-appropriate clients. Facilitate healthy advocacy life skills groups. Engage residents in group participation and serve as facilitator when needed. Clean rooms and pack belongings upon resident exit. Maintain shelter cleanliness, including sterilization of community spaces, water coolers, utility and linen closets. Assist in general building maintenance and operations as directed. Data Collection & Compliance Accurately document services in Apricot, Vela, and required reporting systems. Maintain telephone logs and service documentation.Ensure compliance with:
FVPSA requirements Missouri Department of Public Safety MOCADSV United Way Other funding sources Collect required surveys and outcome data. Support quality assurance monitoring and reporting efforts. Perform other duties as assigned. Collaboration & Professional Standards Coordinate services alongside Residential Case Management, Aftercare, Clinical staff, and other TWSH team members. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and community meetings as assigned. Assist in training volunteers, practicum students, and new staff. Demonstrate professionalism in communication, documentation, punctuality, and teamwork. Uphold agency values, policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Certifications (Within 90 Days of Hire) Employees must successfully obtain and maintain the following certifications within 90 days of employment: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) CPR/First Aid Certification Women's Advocate Certification Any additional required TWSH or funder-mandated trainings Failure to obtain required certifications within 90 days may impact employment status.QUALIFICATIONS
Required High School Diploma or equivalent (or 4 years related work experience) Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and automobile insurance Ability to work 10-hour shifts Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Strong interpersonal and crisis communication skills Experience working with diverse populations Commitment to TWSH's mission and work with survivors Preferred 2 years of college coursework or related work experience Knowledge of domestic violence and empowerment-based advocacy Experience in crisis intervention or direct services Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systemsCORE COMPETENCIES

Work is performed within a confidential domestic violence shelter. Must adhere to safety policies and procedures. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must wear rubber-soled shoes when lifting or carrying items. Position requires standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting. This is an in-person role.
