Position Overview We are looking for a highly experienced Road Tech with 10+ years in diesel mechanics and propane truck services to join our mobile service team. This role is best suited for an independent, self-reliant, and highly qualified technician who can think outside the box to get a truck (and its propane barrel/fixture systems) back on the road safely and efficiently, while fully understanding the importance of repair longevity and minimizing fleet downtime. You will primarily work off-peak hours (6 PM
  • 6 AM and weekends) , as many of the fleets we serve prefer midnight-to-6 AM service windows.
This schedule often allows you to be home with your family for breakfast in the mornings. We use a modern Ford-based service fleet and provide a full 3-month onboarding period in the shop and on the road with experienced techs before you go solo in your own truck. This position will focus not only on the truck side (Class 6-8 heavy-duty diesel) but also heavily on barrel fixtures, propane systems, meters, pipelines, and associated fuel & gas safety measures and protocols . Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay: $45
  • $65 per hour (based on experience) Health Insurance
  • BCBS with employer contribution of 50% up to $6,000 annually Vision and Dental Insurance Life Insurance PTO and Paid Holidays Performance bonuses are scalable based on input, with a basic bonus metric netting up to $10,000 annually ($500 monthly + $1,000 quarterly incentives) Company vehicle, company fuel card, and company credit card provided V&K Inspector Certification receives high consideration and qualifies candidates for the upper end of the pay scale NJ Weights & Measures Seal License is strongly recommended•Candidates who hold or are willing to obtain this license will receive additional preference.
Key Responsibilities Perform mobile diesel repairs and maintenance on-site at customer locations Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on heavy-duty trucks (Class 6-8) Service, maintain, and repair propane truck barrel fixtures, meters, pipelines, and delivery systems Strictly follow all propane/fuel & gas safety measures and protocols , including leak detection, pressure testing, and regulatory compliance Perform weights & measures inspections and sealing as needed for propane metering systems Follow DOT safety standards and protocols Deliver efficient, high-quality solutions with a focus on long-term reliability ( No tire work ) Requirements Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience as a diesel technician (road/mobile service preferred) Proven experience with propane truck services , barrel fixtures, meters, and pipelines is required Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, propane/fuel gas systems , and DOT safety standards/protocols Valid Medical Card (DOT physical) Clean driving record with no points or recent violations Ability to pass a 9-panel drug & alcohol test and full background check V&K Inspector Certification is highly preferred and will be given high consideration for placement at the upper end of the pay scale NJ Weights & Measures Seal License is strongly recommended (we will support obtaining if necessary) TWIC card and CDL are preferred (not required) Self-motivated, independent problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, off-hours environment and prioritizes safety with hazardous fuel systems Hiring Process Qualified candidates will complete a phone interview, one or more in-person interviews, and a written technical examination (including propane-specific and weights & measures questions) before final onboarding.
