Job Description

Biewer Sawmill is seeking a dedicated Mobile Equipment Technician to join our team in Newton, MS , where your technical expertise will directly impact the success of our fast-paced yard operations. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for our rolling stock, performing essential preventative maintenance and complex diagnostics on a diverse fleet of forklifts and loaders. We are looking for a safety-minded professional capable of troubleshooting hydraulic systems, engines, and Tier 4 interim/final equipment to keep our facility running at peak performance. Summary:
Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose issues to maintain forklifts, loaders, and rolling stock equipment used on the property for sawmill or lumber treating facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine service tasks such as oil changes, greasing, and tire changes at applicable runtime intervals. Track runtime hours by each piece of equipment. Review and complete inspections of forklift or loader equipment, checking for leaks or malfunctions. Repair any damage caused to forklift or loader equipment, including: hydraulics, lights, oil leaks, window replacement, tire replacement, and more. Answer onsite forklift or loader breakdown calls when needed to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair.
Complete paperwork for:
part orders, inbound and outbound deliveries, work orders, billing, and more. Work with contractors and third parties to schedule specialty repairs.
Run equipment computer diagnostics including:
codes, isolation tests, regeneration, part regeneration (tier 4 interim and tier 4 final), and more. Maintain inventory of parts. Ensure proper lifting procedures when lifting material. Team lift may be required. Complete required safety forms, checklists, and permits. Responsibly follow all safety procedures and policies, and works together with co-workers to ensure a safe working environment. Perform lockout tagout procedures as required. Report all near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor. Maintain an orderly, organized, and clean work area by sweeping floors, cleaning spilled or leaking matter. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues. Welding and fabrication skills. Language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior mechanical shop or manufacturing experience is preferred.
Work Environment:
Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery and mechanical equipment. Exposure to bark, sawdust, and fluctuating seasonal temperatures (hot, cold, humid). Due to exposure to noise above the permissible exposure limit (PEL), falling hazards, and sawdust, employees must wear hearing protection, a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety footwear, and a high-visibility shirt/vest. This safety-sensitive position requires employees to comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required drug and alcohol testing procedures.
Physical Demands:
Climb and descend steps, stairways or ladders several times per shift. Stand or walk for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts). Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and use hand tools. Day Shift
