Job Description
Impact Credit Union was born from a very simple idea: People Helping People. From our small beginnings in 1937, Impact Credit Union has grown into one of the largest credit unions in our field of membership but has proudly maintained the "small-town" credit union environment. Impact is looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to join our team as a Mortgage Manager. This position will be responsible for managing the prudent management of the credit union's real estate loan portfolio and in evaluating and responding to changes in regulatory, market and competitive conditions. This position will plan, organize and direct the activities within the mortgage department. Responsibilities Manages all aspects of mortgage lending inquiries, application processes, and loan servicing. Interview applicants to gather personal and financial data for mortgage loan applications and notify them of application status. Maintain loan documents in compliance with policy and federal regulations, including OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act policies. Evaluate and recommend approval of mortgage applications within authorized guidelines, adhering to sound underwriting practice. Manage the credit union's secondary market program and coordinate construction and bridge loan activity. Provide exceptional service to members, promoting credit union products and services to create member loyalty. Offer accurate and helpful counseling to members, assisting them in making informed decisions. Process mortgage transactions accurately and efficiently, including posting payments, managing real estate taxes, insurance premiums, and processing ARM and interest rate changes. Run end-of-month and year-end reports, produce 1098 and 1099 DIV forms, and mail annual statements. Coordinate credit union programs targeting lower-income and first-time home buyers. Maintain clear and effective communication with members and team members, representing the credit union positively.
Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree, certification or additional coursework in finance, banking or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in mortgage lending or related field; previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience in handling complex member issues relating to mortgages.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and banking software.
