Job Description
The incumbent serves as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Transportation Section of the Facilities & Engineering Service at the VA Maryland Health Care System. This section is responsible for the transportation needs of all three campuses within the VA Maryland Health Care System, which are located within 50 miles of each other.

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards .SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT
Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Note :
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.Driver's License Requirement:
Required to have CDL license "Class A with passenger endorsement" and drive any and all motor vehicles as assigned, both on and off station, including interstate travel.Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate, back, and turn vehicles. Additional physical effort is used to load and unload vehicles. Depending on the material being transported, objects lifted may weigh up to 100 pounds. The employee must remain mentally attentive at all times in order to successfully accomplish assignments involving driving.Working Conditions:
The incumbent will be required to work in all types of weather conditions. The incumbent will be working indoors as well as outdoors. There may be occasions when the incumbent is required to operate a motor vehicle in inclement weather conditions such as snow or ice storms, wind, fog, and other wet conditions. The incumbent is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of exposure to serious accidents or other conditions. The incumbent will be exposed to various driving conditions and traffic patterns. The incumbent will be required to drive vehicles having a gross weight ranging from 10,000 up to 80,000 lbs.Similar remote jobs
