Job Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Designs and installs physical equipment, to include access points, switches, routers, firewalls, network appliance hardware and connections, to support complex networks utilized by all Boys Town business units. Works in data centers, wire closets, and equipment rooms to build rack layouts, set equipment placements, provide cable management, and uplinks to other equipment. Troubleshoots, implements, and problem solve issues. Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains computer network systems, wired and wireless network equipment, network infrastructure, and internet connections. Interacts with users and management to communicate status of network operations and computer technical issues. Monitors and controls network activity using industry standard hardware and software tools. Updates documentation of all installed and supported systems in use by network operations using drawing, documentation, and database tools, this includes network diagrams for buildings, systems, infrastructure, computers, network fiber, and copper distribution systems. Partners with lead to coordinate activities with data service providers regarding network circuits and provider equipment. Manages projects, as assigned, to ensure that objectives are achieved by validating project requirements, defining project scope, and developing plans and schedules. Travels to various Boys Town locations as needed.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Intermediate level knowledge with IP internetworking, LAN switching, WAN circuits and protocols, dynamic IP routing protocols, firewalls, virtualization technologies, and interfacing with carriers to manage circuit delivery. Routing protocols to include EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF and Firewalls to include Palo Alto. Intermediate knowledge of Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure, both Network Centric and Application Centric. Experience with discovering ports and protocols used by applications to build policy to provide enhanced security. Basic use of Cisco DNA Center and Cisco ISE. Experience building policy, creating templates, configuring network equipment using automation, and provide an improved user experience. Knowledge of configuring and patching switches, firewalls, and routers. Ability to demonstrate and describe networking fundamentals, and to provide guidance to other members of network operations. Professionalism and interpersonal skills and Problem solving and creative thinking to analyze and evaluate results and formulate proactive solutions for problem resolution.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a computer related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required. Ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed) to complete travel requirements of the job required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of experience in information technology, computer networking, or a related area is required; experience with wired and wireless systems preferred. Cisco CCNA certification or other Network or Security related certifications preferred.Other Duties:

Position may require moderate physical activity including pulling and running cable. Handling of average weight objects 20 pounds and up to 50 pounds on occasion, standing, walking, kneeling, or at a keyboard, workstation, or desk. Requires agility to work in crawl spaces and on ladders. Work is typically in a normal office administrative or computer environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks, but may also spend time working in small, confined spaces or at heights of ten feet or greater with exposure to dust, noise, electrical systems, and excessively hot or cold temperatures.
