Job Description
Join our team as a Neurodiagnostic Technician I, where you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic testing that supports patient care across a variety of neurological conditions. In this role, you will perform advanced neurodiagnostic procedures—including EEGs and long-term monitoring—while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate data collection. You'll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams, applying your technical expertise and clinical knowledge to support timely, precise diagnoses. Under general supervision and in alignment with established protocols, you would perform both routine and complex procedures to collect data for the clinical diagnosis of epilepsy. Candidates would also support a variety of diagnostic and research activities, including involvement in SPECT procedures and SEEG implantations, in close collaboration with the epilepsy surgical team. •We offer free on-the-job training as well as online courses (ASET Core EEG Curriculum)•
Purpose:
Perform under direct supervision and according to established guidelines and procedures, routine and complex procedures to obtain data for use in the clinical diagnosis of disorders of the nervous system in at least one of the following modalities ofNeurodiagnostics:
Electroencephalogarphy (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring and Polysomnograhy (PSG), or Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). Perform duties in various diagnostic and research areas as assigned.Responsibilities:
Operate computer equipment to record nervous system responses that provide quantitative and objective measures of the neuronal/sensory function. Collaborate with supervisor and medical personnel to resolve problems and to advise concerning laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment. Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance and repair on neurodiagnostic equipment to ensure proper functioning. Troubleshoot routine equipment problems. Document pertinent medical history from the patient or family members. React in medical emergencies to ensure patient safety; know unit and hospital procedures for working with high acuity patients. Recognize changes in the clinical condition of the patient and correlate those changes with the EEG. Discriminate the changes requiring intervention such as seizures or cardiac arrhythmia. Schedule patients for neurodiagnostic procedures and obtain required medical information; explain procedures, alleviate fears, and elicit cooperation. Prepare patient for tests to include measuring and marking cranial area and fastening electrodes to specified positions on scalp and body. Perform procedures with appropriate documentation.
