WHAT WE'RE DOING
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Accelerated Materials & Product Development (AMPD) engineering department and laboratory. In this role you will design, analyze, and test a variety of structures and systems to ensure they meet project requirements and industry standards.THE WORK
- Lay out conceptual designs early in the design phase and support proposal efforts
- lead mechanical design throughout the execution phase on multiple projects
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to evaluate material and component structural and thermal data applying it to the design
- Interpret design specifications, codes, and standards to ensure project compliance.
- Collaborate with project teams to verify design intent and resolve issues promptly.
- Provide technical support during fabrication and validation phases of the engineering cycle.

- Proficiency in CREO Parametric or similar 3D CAAD software tools
- Windchill, EPDM
- Understanding of and able to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Self-starter and independent worker
- experience with launcher and missile canister development
- experience working programs in dynamic environments such as space or undersea applications
- comfortable working on a dynamic, fast paced team under demanding schedules.
- Experience designing and manufacturing composite products.

Part-time Remote Telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Schedule for thisPosition:
4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week The base range for this position in New Jersey is $130,000- $256,896.
