Job Description
The primary purpose of the Nurse is to provide comprehensive healthcare services to individuals under supervision at our
- Lisbon and Wintersville facilities (2 positions) .
- Conduct admission health assessments and screenings for residents within fourteen (14) days of admission.
- Administer medications already prescribed, maintain medication inventory control and auditing, and monitor treatment plans.
- Conduct sick call to assess and triage residents' medical conditions and refer residents to the appropriate level of medical care when necessary.
- Monitor complaints, manage chronic illnesses and mental health conditions.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic clinical care.
- Schedule and coordinate outside medical appointments.
- Coordinate care with physicians, mental health professionals, social workers, and correctional staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Assist with crisis intervention services as needed.
- Utilize universal precautions and infection control procedures at all times.
- Maintain familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to correctional and community-based correctional facilities.
- Serve as a representative of the facility by demonstrating compassion, fairness, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions with residents, staff, community partners, and the general public. Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare annual ACA and BCS outcome measurement reports.
- Participate in facility committee meetings and other facility functions.
- Attend scheduled trainings and maintain all required licenses and certifications.
- Check and respond to email and voicemail messages daily.
- Possess strong interpersonal communications and conflict resolution skills
- Provides daily positive interaction with offenders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations. Supervisory Responsibilities
- None. Education, Licensure, and Abilities
- Current State of Ohio nursing licensure (NCLEX-PN or
NCLEX-RN
).- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to prepare and present written and verbal reports and instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient understanding of English language, grammar, and professional communication.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
