Full-time Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant performs a variety of direct patient services to patients throughout the life-span in an out-patient setting. These services include assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of treatment, evaluation, and monitoring. Works closely with Neurology Physician on diagnosing and managing neurological conditions including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, dementia and movement disorders.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Provides diagnosis, treatments, prescriptions, referrals, consultations, and follow-ups for Neurology patients. § Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting test results. § Participates in the development of standards of care, protocols, and administrative functions as necessary so that clients receive safe, and quality care safely. § Discuss health conditions with patients and provide counseling as appropriate; develop treatment plans to prevent or relieve the condition and prescribe medications allowed by scope of practice and pharmacy formulary; arrange for appropriate follow-up or referral based on clinical findings. § Assists with EMG's and Clinical Botox Injections. § Review incoming medical reports, sign, date, and follow-up in a timely manner according to MCH policies and procedures. § Maintain detailed patient records and complete accurate, timely documentation for all patient interactions while ensuring compliance with established coding guidelines and healthcare documentation standards. § Communicates appropriately with professionals to facilitate and enhance professional interdisciplinary relationships. § Ensuring compliance with Morrison Community Hospital Bylaws, policies and with healthcare laws and regulations. § Participating in research and quality improvement initiatives. § Performing clinical procedures within scope of practice. § Maintain confidentiality of all patient information. § Help to ensure support staff adhere to clinical best practices, policies, and procedures. § Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. § Trains new staff members in correct technique and observation of office policies and procedures as requested. § Demonstrates effort to improve patient satisfaction scores to clinic standards as noted by specific acts, conversations, and/or feedbackAdministrative:
§ Attend staff meetings required. § Attend seminars, workshops and conferences as needed and approved for professional development. § Arrive at work on time and endeavor to deliver timely medical care within the constraints of patient acuity. § Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
§ Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of Illinois. § Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain) § Proficiency in surgical assisting techniques and perioperative patient management § Must maintain a minimum of Basic Life Support Certification § Must be self-directed. § Must be able to maintain confidentiality, handle crisis and tolerate stress professionally. § Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) system oCurrent EMR System:
