Nursing Clinical Director Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director for the School of Nursing, the Clinical Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight for the clinical education component of the School of Nursing at Mount St. Mary's University. This position is responsible for coordinating high-quality clinical learning experiences, supporting clinical faculty and preceptors, ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements, and promoting student readiness for professional nursing practice. In keeping with the School of Nursing's mission, the Clinical Director also helps ensure that clinical education forms students in ethical clinical judgment, respect for human dignity, and compassionate, person-centered care especially in service to communities most in need. Main Position Duties Ensure clinical placements, simulation, and skills experiences reinforce the School of Nursing's mission to form ethical, compassionate, and clinically proficient nurses guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Identify and collaborate with clinical partners and community agencies to prioritize learning experiences that support care for vulnerable populations. Coordinate and oversee clinical education experiences across all nursing courses, including clinical placements, skills labs, and simulation. Develop, maintain, and evaluate clinical partnerships with healthcare agencies and community organizations. Develop orientation resources for clinical faculty and preceptors that clarify program expectations for person-centered care, professionalism, and formation in ethical clinical judgment. Ensure clinical experiences meet program outcomes, accreditation standards, and Maryland Board of Nursing requirements. Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director of Nursing to align clinical education with curriculum goals and student learning outcomes. Recruit, orient, support, and evaluate clinical faculty and preceptors in collaboration with program leadership. Monitor student clinical performance and support remediation or intervention plans as needed. Maintain documentation related to clinical compliance, including affiliation agreements, preceptor qualifications, and student requirements. Participate in accreditation, assessment, and reporting activities related to clinical education. Teach clinical and/or didactic nursing courses as assigned based on program needs and qualifications. Integrate structured reflection and debrief practices within clinical education to strengthen students' reflective mindset and readiness for compassionate practice. Required Qualifications Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited program. Eligibility for Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Maryland. Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience. Experience in clinical instruction, clinical coordination, or nursing education. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated commitment to supporting and advancing the Catholic mission and identity of Mount St. Mary's University through one's professional responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree in nursing (Ph.D. or DNP). Experience coordinating clinical placements or managing clinical partnerships. Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory expectations related to nursing clinical education. Demonstrated ability to lead clinical education in a mission-driven context, including formation of students and preceptors, respect for human dignity, and person-centered care.Hours:
40-hour week (Weekends are occasional)Targeted Salary:
