Nutrition Aide (Livingston County Residents Only) 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Mount Morris, NY $18.23 an hour - Part-time Livingston County, NY 4 reviews $18.23 an hour - Part-time Salary $18.23 Hourly Location Murray Hill Campus (Mount Morris, New York) Job Type Part-Time Job Number 202601179 Department Health/WIC 0010 Opening Date 05/21/2026 Closing Date 11/18/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description RESIDENCY- Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s) for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the application: Livingston County This is non-technical work involving the presentation of nutrition and/or breastfeeding information to WIC participants under the direct supervision of a WIC Program Coordinator or a Registered Professional Nurse. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Employees are placed in frequent, recurring public contact situations and must be able to function both efficiently and courteously. An incumbent may assist participants in completing applications for program certification and re-certification. An incumbent will work with participants to help them meet their nutrition and/or breastfeeding goals. A Nutrition Aide does related work as assigned. Examples of Duties Presents information on basic nutrition and/or breastfeeding to WIC participants; Researches information on basic nutrition and/or breastfeeding topics as assigned by the supervisor; Prepares visual aids and other materials for presentations; Prepares handouts of nutrition information, breastfeeding information, recipes, and/or other health topics for distribution; Responsible for purchasing and preparing materials and supplies and making presentations at group and/or individual educational meetings; Conducts community outreach to promote the WIC program; Takes attendance for each of the WIC clinics; Assists participants in completing forms for program certification and re-certification; May collect blood specimens by means of a finger prick; May measure patient's height, weight, and head circumference; Discusses nutrition and/or breastfeeding topics with WIC participants; Encourages program participants to engage in good nutrition practices and/or infant breastfeeding; Keeps records and prepares documents relevant to the program; May distribute WIC checks; May take referrals and make appointments; Meets regularly with supervisor to report activities and program participant progress; and Performs other related duties as assigned.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
: General knowledge of nutrition and breastfeeding; ability to get along well with others and to secure the cooperation of the participants; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to maintain records; ability to speak effectively in public; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
for the general WIC program : Applicants must meet all requirements for one of the following qualification options in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment: Qualification Option # 1 2 Training/Education Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; AND Completion of any basic nutrition course from an accredited college[1]. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. General experience None required. Supervisory experience N.A. License/Certification None required. Possession of a Home Health Aide certificate Other requirements N.A. [1] Your nutrition course must have been completed at a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your course was completed at an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
