Amherst, NY Position Summary:
Coordinate and participate in a variety of supportive patient care/clinic preparations that assist medical professional personnel, billing and inventory management.Responsibilities of Position:
Performs a variety of duties involved in greeting and directing patients, their families, vendors, pharmaceutical representatives, and other Dent business associates. Provides information to patients and their families on such matters as services, charges and routine treatment procedures. Accepts packages and deliveries from outside and inside sources, directing and distributing or sorting as needed. Responsible for scheduling all head-ache patients that are referred directly for same day infusions. Checks patients in and advises nursing staff of their arrival Checks patients out and schedules follow-up appointment. Answers the telephone and provides information or transfer for the caller. Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition. Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, safety and other policies as set forth. Represents the Dent by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families. Independently problem solves and utilizes resources to obtain patient information when patient is unable to communicate. Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at the Dent. Refers patients to proper resources for Dent policies such as billing and or financial support. Assists in clerical duties as needed, functioning as a member of the health care team. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Some working knowledge of medical terminology. Planning, organizational, and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently or within a team environment. Willing and able to work infrequent overtime as required to meet operational needs and perform all duties. Flexible availability for departmental meetings. Working knowledge of general office equipment including multi-line phone, computer, copier, calculator and fax machines. Effective verbal communication, interpersonal and telephone skills. Required Education High School Diploma and 2+ years related experience in an office setting. Preferred Education and Experience Associates Degree and 2 years related experience Experience working in an outpatient/clinic settingWorking Conditions:
Minimal physical effort, including assistance to the disabled patient in transfers to and from wheelchairs, exam tables, bathroom etc. Associated health risks related to patient exposure including body fluids and needles.
