The Arc Greater Hudson Valley is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing support and services to over 1,800 people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and to their families in Sullivan, Orange and Dutchess Counties, New York. A chapter of The Arc New York, our main offices are located at 162 East Broadway in Monticello, NY. Our agency offers a broad range of services including Residential Services, Clinical Services, Day Services, Family Support Services, Guardianship Services, Employment Services, Recreation and more. Our mission is to support people with unique abilities to live as valued and contributing members of the community.Job Summary:
To provide ongoing supervision and support to assigned staff, and to ensure provision of quality services to program participants. Quality services are defined by each person and should reflect both needs and wants, as well as essential supports with activities of daily living and community life. Services must be delivered in a person-centered manner, reflecting individual choice, exploration of opportunities and interests, and the maintenance and development of important relationships.Expectations:
Model professional behavior and promote individual and programmatic growth. Implement then agency mission and values in day to day responsibilities Adhere to the Agency's Policies and Procedures, The Justice Center Code of Conduct, NADSP Code of Ethics, as well as all regulations governing the delivery of services. Maintain valid licenses (including but not limited to driving, as applicable), medication certification, or any other credentials that are required or necessary to carry out the responsibilities upon and throughout employment.Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that services provided meet all quality standards a. Services should reflect what matters most to the person, as well as their needs for support with ADL or Community Living skills b. Services must be provided in a way that complies with department and agency policies and procedures, as well as the regulations governing service delivery c. Services must be delivered in a culturally competent, responsive and respectful manner d. Ensure services promote meaningful community connections 2. Develop, Train and Supervise Employees a. People supported depend on employees to experience quality services. It is therefore the supervisor's responsibility to ensure that staff receive formal initial and ongoing training related to their role b. Ongoing development should be provided to ensure staff are knowledgeable about the needs, conditions and best practices related to the people they support. c. Employee development also encompasses regular feedback sessions and frequent, ongoing active supervision 3. Cultivate a culture of person centeredness and compliance a. Using the agency mission and core values to guide service delivery as above b. Use the DSP core competencies to guide staff actions and decision making c. Ensuring staff understand individual preferences and needs d. Ensure services are delivered in order to meet those needs and desires e. Ensuring staff are trained and supported to fully engage in person centered programming 4. Culture of Compliance a. Ensure that program services are delivered and documented in a manner compliant with policies, procedures and regulations. b. Ensure service documentation by direct reports is submitted in a complete, accurate and timely manner on a daily basis 5. Program Operations a. The Group Supervisor is responsible for supporting the program manager/program supervisor with the ongoing daily operations of the program by carrying out the above tasks, in addition to the following: i. In conjunction with people supported, plan, develop and implement activities ii. Coordination of staffing and support needs iii. Maintenance of physical plant iv. Vehicle and resource assignment and use/maintenance v. Participate in team meetings for program b. Ensure service documentation is completed fully, on time, and to the required standards for assigned caseloadQualifications:
At least one year experience working directly with DD individuals. Must have High School Diploma or GED, will consider higher education in place of experience in the field.Physical Requirements:
Ability to assist in lifting, transferring, or repositioning of consumers as needed. Lift up to 50 pounds. The above is a general statement of the expectations and responsibilities of the position.
